Mo’s Snake Bark
Bark! It’s a SNAKE!! I can smell it and hear it and I no likey! “Alert Alert” is what I’m telling Susan with my bark, body language and turning to leave. I’ve been to Snake Avoidance Training and I’ve been trained to avoid them there snakes.
I guess I could’ve started with a nice “Hello from your pal Mo,” but that snake bark just came out first. Yesterday we found a snake in the garden rocks at home (can you see ‘im in the picture below?). It wasn’t a poisonous one but it’s good to be aware. Here where it gets hot, us dogs need to know not to mess with snakes. Our local dog club does a Snake Avoidance Training every year to help keep us nosey types and our human pals safe. I’m happy to report the only rattle snakes I’ve encountered were at the Training.
My canine pal Paz up north even found a rattler near the house. He alerted his human pretty quick! Good dog, Paz!
TIP: When you’re our on the trail, whether a paved one or dirt, keep a look out for snakes. They love to sun themselves where it’s hot. Susan and I saw a big fat snake on the bike trail once, not a rattler but we didn’t get too close anyway. Also the wide, open Cronan Ranch (and county) we went to while back it a great place in the hot summer for rattlers. Good to know, right?!
MORE TIPS: Vaccines at your Vets’ are available for us canines, especially if you live in a rattlesnake heavy area. Keep your Vets’ number handy because sometime us dogs get bit and it ain’t pretty.
Here’s Susan’s most recent pet portraits. You can also see them on Instagram @BarkArtPetPortraits.
TIP: Pet portraits by Susan make great gifts for birthday and holidays (which will be here before you know it). And I think Susan is gonna raise her prices soon.
That’s all for this news-bark.
Keep your tail a waggin’!
Bark for now. Your pal, Mo
