Mo's Vacation Anxiety Tail

Woof!  It’s your pal Mo here again.  Last couple weeks it was super hot here and the air was filled with smoke!  Yikes.   So Susan said we needed to take a little trip to get away for a couple days.

Now, I’m a dog that likes routine and consistency.  I hate to admit it, but I don’t like going on trips.  Yup, that’s right, I like to stay at home in my cozy kennel and to do the same ol’ thing.  Travel makes me anxious.

So, I guess that my topic for today - Canine Travel Anxiety!  I can tell something is going to happen when those wheelie boxes come out of the closet and Susan puts her clothes in them.  Also, a bag that smells like my food comes out and in go my bowls, treats, sweater, and blanket.  Ugh, oh no!  What Is Going On Here!?!

Just to be helpful, because I know there are amazing canine pals out there, like my friend Paz, who love to travel … Here is a chart of what to bring for your canine pals.

On our trip, hate to admit it, but we did do some pretty fun things for a couple of days.  Susan took me for some nice long walks which helped me feel a lot better.  I got to smell all sorts of new smells since we were on the coast and it is totally different from where we live.   I heard Susan say she loves the smell of eucalyptus. Yeah, it’s ok, but you know,  I prefer the bushes that other dogs have peed on.  He he.

Now, I don’t know what Susan was thinkin’, but she didn’t take one single picture of me the whole time we were out walking on the beach and smelling seaweed with flies all over it.  Or on this cool trail where the fog was so thick we couldn’t see much, which was ok by me since my nose tells me what I need to know.  But, no pictures!  What a human pal!

This isn’t me, but you can sort of imagine it is . . .

I gotta admit something else . . . I can’t eat or drink when I’m in some new place.  Well, I finally did eat a little bit, but mostly I don’t want anything to do with water or treats or food.   There are things that help to calm down us anxious pups including Benadryl and CBD treats.   They just make me sleepy.  I don’t know what will work for your anxiety, but I think a good long walk works best for me.

Anyway!  That’s all the barkin’ from me today.  We’re back home and I’m in my happy space again.  Arroooyay!

Happy Tail Trails or maybe just stay home!  He he.

Bark for now.  Your pal, Mo
